Dr. Oliver Boone is a nationally recognized music educator honored by two U.S. Presidents for his outstanding teaching. A dedicated advocate for music education, he was a 2017 Grammy Foundation National Music Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist. His bands have performed in prestigious events, including the Tournament of Roses Parade, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and the Presidential Inaugural Parade, with appearances on major television networks. Inducted into the National High School Band Director’s Hall of Fame in 1992, he now serves as Executive Director of the High School Band Director’s National Association.
Beyond high school music, Dr. Boone has been a principal, professor, and Dean of Academic Affairs. A published composer and author, his works appear with J.W. Pepper, Convention Music, and Lady Bug Music Publications. A Montgomery, Alabama native, he has performed at the American Bandmasters Association and collaborated with legendary musicians, including Col. Hal Gibson, Col. George S. Howard, Sir Vivian Dunn, Dr. William Revelli and Robert W. Smith (Classmate).
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, he currently serves as the Director of Instrumental Music for Jordan High School of Columbus, Georgia. He currently holds a B.M.E. and M.M.E. from Alabama State University as well as an Ed.S. from Piedmont University.
Jimmy Motos is one of Columbus, Georgia's most celebrated community leaders. A clarinet player in the band, he has been the voice of the band since its inception in 1988. He is a retired School Principal.
George was a student of Bob Barr and became the first conductor of the Bob Barr Community Band (then known as the Jordan Alumni Bob Barr Band) from 1988-2011. He was inducted into the National High School Band Director's Hall of Fame in 2004.
Fred Catchings (CW4 Bandmaster in U.S. Army, Ret.) studied Music Performance and Music Education at Florida State University. He was the Bob Barr Community Band's conductor from 2011 to 2023
The son of Bob Barr himself, Eric was an oboe player and Drum Major at Jordan High School. After graduation, he went into the U.S. Marine Corps Band and had the honor of playing for the Johnson and Nixon administrations. He was a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
Bob Barr, a native of Hartford, Oklahoma, was a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He directed the Jordan HS Band of Georgia from 1946 to1964 and was in inducted into the National High School Band Director's Hall of Fame in 2004.
